Here’s a great sturdy travel product with a tech twist that is perfectly timed for your summer travels and beyond. These wallets from KeySmart were clearly made after much R&D into the target market and products already available. I am unaware of anything similar out there right now at the competitive price points they have.

Mionetto Limon Spritz (Photo:provided)
Spring is the perfect season for bubbly, though honestly any time is a good one for that! The folks at Mionetto have got you prepared though with some delightfully refreshing options, whether you are casually sipping at home on the weekend or hosting a party outdoors to celebrate the season. With every sip of Mionetto’s Prosecco and sparkling wines, you will experience the finest bubbles Italy has to offer. So here’s welcoming spring with Italy's official "welcome wine," a glass of Prosecco. What I love most is not just the refreshing flavor but also that you get both regular and mini sized bottles which make it a great option for your travels over the summer or fall. (Pro Tip: Consume Mionetto in a white wine glass to fully open up and enjoy the aromas!)

As a frequent traveler, I know by now better than to travel with no snacks in my bags, both carry on and check in. Given how many variables there are that I cannot control when traveling, I prefer to always have some goodies on my just in case there are delays in flight times or airports closed for the day, or no shops open at final destination when I land. Here are a few goodies I learned of recently and I enjoyed them enough to want to share them with you!

After hearing so much about Bouchon Bakery in Beverly Hills, was delighted to receive this goodie bonanza at a recent event and can now attest to the fact that they do, indeed, have some amazing macarons here. The sugar cookies and the flavored popcorn were great but those macarons hit just the right spot!

Book review: Island Journeys by Carlisle Richardson

9/13/2015

Island Journeys bookImage courtesy News and Experts
I had the opportunity to read a review copy of a Island Journeys, a book on how the island way of life impacts one's life at home and away.

The very mention of islands has me thinking of beautiful beaches and lively weather, a resort trip, scenes of carnival and calypso music playing. Images of cricket teams and Machel Montano singing. A getaway from every day life elsewhere in the world.

But the author Carlisle Richardson, a native of St Kitts and Nevis, is quick to point out that there is more to these island states that meets the eye. “I understand why tropical islands are sometimes considered paradise,” he says. A United Nations economic-affairs officer, he shares,“As a native islander, I feel and believe in this sentiment myself. But I also know that island living presents challenges that are much more complex than lying in the sand or enjoying a cool island breeze.”

The traveler and writer in me are equally overjoyed :) Each flavor is based on Hemingway’s epic travels and exciting life - a zingy cocktail sauce, a sweet yet hot grilling sauce, a smoky hot sauce, a sea salt with a citrusy, garlic tang, and a distinctive Bloody Mary Mix - E.H. Matcha to go please!

10/1/2014

I am not exactly a green tea lover but I can enjoy a cup or two now and then so I think the Matcha to go packs are just the right size for a traveler like me. Carry them on in your purse or backpack and all you need is some hot water to get your cup going. This one from Aiya, Japan's leading producer of Matcha tea,  comes in neat stick-packs and can be enjoyed cold too. Just look at all the recipes they share, I am tempted to try a few of these as well. Its fiber and antioxidants galore as it uses the entire leaf unlike other tea types that need steeping. Even when I am working from home, these are great to sip on. Go ahead, get yourself some and see if you like it. I am enjoying my cuppa Matcha to go while I am typing this post!

California Wine Club

California wine club victor
Who doesn't enjoy a good glass of wine? Imagine my surprise then when these beauties arrived in the mail, that too just in time for the long weekend. They'd make perfect gifts to share with the new AirBnB friends we were staying with in Chattanooga. Farm-to-Table, artisanal wines are the focus of The California Wine Club which sets the bar for providing superior wines to its members. They personally visit and source bottles ONLY from local vineyards and wineries, supporting the families behind them. These wineries typically produce less than 10,000 cases of wine a year, meaning they usually aren't on the radar of distributors and have little chance of being carried in a retail location. Previously, the only way to taste the wines from these boutique wineries was to take a trip to California but now, The California Wine Club can introduce you to these small wineries through their website. I enjoyed Victor Vineyards Pinto Noir and Chardonnay immensely - a great addition to my faves, but go ahead and try any of the wines offered by the club. Use this link here and the code RW15 for 15% off anything on the site, including memberships, wine by the case or half case...Salud!
