Life can be stressful sometimes. Work hours are long and the daily commute is a nightmare. We’re aware that we need to adjust our work life balance to tilt more towards life. But that’s not always possible. Annual vacation is the time to relax, slow down and forget about the stresses and strains of everyday life. Follow these tips to treat yourself this holiday and indulge in some much-needed TLC...
1. Book Luxury Accommodation
Vacations are a good excuse to splurge a little. If you can’t spoil yourself during your holidays, when can you spoil yourself? Consider it a form of therapy. This is your time to detach from your hectic schedule and unplug. From luxury Italian holiday homes to 5-star hotels, you’ll find something to help you unwind. Check out amenities such as private access to beaches and pools.

2. Flights
When booking your flights, consider all of the options. Traveling first class will provide you with a number of benefits. You will have access to the first class lounge and you won’t have to stand in a queue. Your seat will be bigger and more comfortable. The flight attendants will look after you during your journey. If you can’t quite stretch to first class, ask about an upgrade when you check in. Make this one of your last minute travel tips.

3. Concierge and Maid Service
When you arrive at your destination, check out the concierge and maid services. Some hotels will provide an unpacking service for you. They will also arrange for your clothing to be laundered throughout your stay. If you’re staying in self-catered accommodation, there may be a maid service. Someone will come in and clean your holiday home each day. Try to avoid housework as much as possible. Spend the time relaxing and doing things you enjoy.

4. Indulge in a Massage or Spa Day
During your stay, make the most of the local facilities. Book yourself a massage or a spa day. Let someone else do the hard work, while you sit back and let your worries melt away. Many resorts will offer local specialty massages and treatments. Look into the various options and pick something that appeals to you.

5. Eat Well
Before your trip, do some research and discover the best places to eat and drink. Check out travel guides and reviews. When you arrive, ask the locals where they eat. It’s likely you’ll discover some hidden eateries. Find out what the local and regional specialties are. Try new food, wine and beers. Go out of your comfort zone a little.

6. Luxury Excursions
Many holiday destinations offer luxury excursions. You could charter a yacht for the day or book into a luxury golf club. Or for smaller budgets, enjoy a sunset cruise with champagne. Find out everything the region has to offer and take full advantage of the experience. Treating yourself isn’t always about spending lots of money. It’s about finding time to do the things you enjoy. This may not be possible on most days of the year. Therefore, make the most of your vacation and your time away.
