Saltwood Charcuterie & Bar at the Loews Atlanta Hotel is partnering with For the Kid in All of Us, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to helping Georgia’s less fortunate, to host a holiday toy drive on Thursday, November 12. Bring your inner child out on the town for a charitable evening featuring samples of Saltwood’s small plate-style cuisine and complimentary beverages in exchange for an unwrapped toy valued at $20 or more. Atlanta restaurants are gearing up for Halloween, check out these neighborhood hangouts for some fun ones! 10th & Piedmont has a frightfully reasonable Halloween-themed prix-fixe menu on Oct. 31 for $23 per person, plus tax and gratuity. The restaurant will also be serving Halloween-themed cocktails. Atkins Park Restaurant and Bar in Virginia-Highland is scaring up a week’s worth of enchanting eats and entertainment. On Tuesday, Oct. 27, the staff will tap a special cellared keg of Terrapin’s Midnight Monk (9.8% ABV), a black Belgian IPA retired in 2014, with food pairings - appetizer, entrée and dessert - that can be ordered à la carte, with or without the beer. The food and beer will be served starting at 5 p.m., with a screening of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” in the dining room at midnight. On Wednesday, Oct. 28, the restaurant hosts a pumpkin-carving contest and scary movies on the dining room projection screen. Prizes include house cash and a prize pack from Southern Tier Brewing Company. The contest and movies start at 10 p.m., and each contestant gets a complimentary draft of Southern Tier’s Pumking ale. Thursday, Oct. 29 brings a Halloween-themed lip sync battle sponsored by Svedka vodka, with prizes including cash and house cash, starting at 10 p.m. And on Saturday, Oct. 31, bring your finest costume for a Halloween party and costume contest and compete to win a one-night stay in Asheville, including a VIP tour and dinner at the new Sierra Nevada brewery. On Thursday, Oct. 29, attend Costumes on the Woof, a costume contest for dogs to benefit Angels Among Us Pet Rescue of Atlanta, from 6 to 8 p.m. on the roof of the Loews Atlanta Hotel. Take advantage of the hotel’s Halloween package, with superior guest room accommodations, trick-or-treating in the hotel, a $20 taxi credit and two complimentary Halloween cocktails. Gypsy Kitchen is offering a pair of spook-tacular drink specials throughout the month. Johnny’s Hideaway will become a haunted hideaway as it hosts a Halloween party on Thursday, Oct. 29. There's a costume contest with $500 in prizes ($300 for first place, $150 for second and $50 for third), and giveaways from some of your favorite liquor brands. Show up to Ray’s Rio Bravo on Friday, Oct. 30 for the chance to win tickets to the second annual Saints & Sinners Ball at Park Tavern on Halloween night, courtesy of iHeart Radio and Dos Equis. No costume is required. Last but not least, you’ll flip your lid for FLIP burger boutique’s October offerings, including a pumpkin spice-scented maple syrup milkshake and the Duck Duck Goose burger, a seared duck burger topped with pickled walnut goat cheese and tarragon mayonnaise, finished with arugula tossed in a smoked tomato vinaigrette, fried quail egg and shaved foie gras.
