Thinking of traveling in 2016? Then you’re probably looking for tips to keep the costs down. Lucky for you, there's five epic ideas right here!
Compare Transport Prices
Whether you travel by train, plane or bus, you need to find the best price. There are loads of price comparison sites that let you find out the cheapest deal on the market. Sometimes, you may have to take a longer route but it might work out cheaper. Transport costs are the largest costs you will incur when you travel, particularly if you don’t compare prices and find the best deal possible.

Compare Accommodation Prices
Accommodation costs travellers lots of money. Again, you need to compare prices to ensure you’re getting the best deal. And you should explore as many different options as possible. Hotels aren’t the only option for you. Think about looking for local B&Bs or hostels, they tend to be cheaper sometimes. If you’re lucky, you may have family or friends of friends in your travel destination that can provide you with a room to stay. This will cut your accommodation costs massively!

Book In Advance
The earlier you book something, the better. This applies to transport, accommodation; you name it. The closer it is to your departure date, the more expensive things will be for you. Last minute trips are spontaneous and cool, but they aren’t good for your bank balance. Try and organise your travels well in advance, so everything is more affordable for you.

Save On Airport Parking
Believe it or not, one of the biggest travel expenses is paying for airport parking. These days, airports charge quite a bit of money from you for parking even for a short while. Sometimes even if you go to drop someone off, you’ll be charged a small fee. But when you’ve gone on holiday and leave your car in airport parking for a few weeks, the charges can be massive. Look around for airport parking deals before you fly out. This can help you save a little bit of cash, that will soon add up easily, especially if you travel often.

Save While Abroad
All of the previous ideas are things you can do before you jet off on your travels. But what can you do while you’re abroad? One thing you should consider is how you’ll get around while on holiday. For people that are travelling to a city and intend to stay in the same area, there’s no point renting a car. It would be far more affordable if you paid for the public transport there. But if you intend on journeying around a country, then renting a car may be the most cost-effective option. Another tip is to pay for things with cash and not by card. Credit card companies sometimes have a fee they charge for any foreign payments and this can easily amount to a sizable chunk of money over time if you are an avid traveler.

Traveling can cost a lot of money, particularly if you’re not being careful. Use these five ideas and your holidays will start to be much cheaper. As a result, you may be able to afford more holidays than usual! What are some of your money saving travel tips?
